Please join NSMAA in a Spring clean up at Japhet Creek. Tasks including picking up trash, clearing paths of vines and limbs, also removing non native plants.

Date: March 8th and April 12th
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: Japhet Creek 4600 Clinton Drive, Houston, TX 77020
What to bring: dress weather appropriate, sturdy shoes, bring a re-usable bottle of water. Tools, gloves and drinking water will be provided. There are plenty of parking space at site.

Ages: Min. Age to volunteer is 8 yrs old (minors require adult supervision)

Dress: Please show your UH Cougar Pride by wearing a UH shirt/colors.

You should wear close-toed shoes & clothes appropriate to work in a warehouse.

Duties: Appropriate tasks ranging from boxing/sorting to “light” duties depending on your ability. They will have “child appropriate” duties for those bringing children.

The association will commit to 4 days a year with volunteer work at the Buffalo Bend Nature Park located at 2300 South Sgt Macario Garcia (map). Our tasks include invasive species removal, litter and debris removal, native plantings, and habitat and forest restoration.
You will not need to bring any tools. You are welcome to bring your own boots and gloves. If not, please let us know your boot size. Please RSVP as breakfast will be served.

Adopt-A-Spot

Give three hours of your time; help inspire the young scientists of tomorrow.

Volunteers are needed for the 10th Annual Mars Rover Celebration, January 28, on campus at UH. The event is an educational opportunity for primary/middle school students to design and build a model rover to perform a mission on Mars. For 2012, there will be 750+ children participating, organized into 230 teams.

Please volunteer to help with one of the following jobs:
· Judge (Morning Shift – 8:30-11:30 am) (Afternoon Shift – Noon-3:30 pm)
· Tour Guide (Morning Shift – 10:30am-1:30 pm) (Afternoon Shift- 2:30-5 pm)

The attached flyer provides details on the event, the volunteer roles and the amount of time required. Online volunteer registration is available at https://marsrover.uh.edu/VolunteerRegistration.aspx.
